Florida Seafood Festival
Today is the last day of August and we are about to enter the “ber” months. One of Franklin County’s most anticipated events is The Florida Seafood Festival, Florida’s oldest maritime event. It will be held on November 6 (Friday) and 7 (Saturday) at the mouth of the Apalachicola River of Apalachicola’s Battery Park. This event is gaining popularity every year and more and more people are joining the celebration.
Out-of-towners who want to spend their vacation during this time should reserve their vacation home rentals in advance since accommodations tend to get booked early on. You don’t want to pass up this festival as well as miss out the opportunity to spend some time to unwind at the beaches of St. George Island.
There will be many fun and exciting activities for the family such as the oyster eating and shucking contests, Blue Crab races, cooking contest, a 5km Redfish Run, a parade and The Blessing of the Fleet. A delectable selection of seafood, arts and crafts exhibits, musical entertainment and other events are also not to miss. The Downtown Oyster Roast will be held in the open on November 6 on Commerce Street.
