Celebrate an Old Fashion Christmas!

Have you heard your favorite carol on the radio?
Have you heard about all the sales this season? Are you worried that you haven’t even started your shopping? If you have said yes to any of those questions, you realize the same thing that I do.  Yep, Christmas is just around the corner.  In fact it’s only about a month away. If you’re anything like me, the next month will be a flurry of activities, like decorating, shopping, baking and hopping from Christmas party to Christmas party.

This year, I hope you will join the rest of us in the area step back in time and reminisce of what Christmas’s were like in the days gone by as Apalachicola presents their Annual Christmas Celebration. The streets will be lit up with luminaries and lights, vendors will be selling cider on the sidewalks. Local merchants will have smiles on their faces and open signs in their windows as carolers stroll the streets singing your favorite Holiday classics. All of that topped off with the arrival of Santa himself on a shrimp boat…yes, I said shrimp boat. In other parts of the world, he may arrive by sleigh and slide down chimneys, but here in Apalachicola, he arrives like the locals, by boat.

Slow down this season and take at least one evening out with your family to celebrate the Holiday Season the old fashioned way before the rush begins.  The celebration starts at 4:30 and will last until 8.  Santa will be arriving at the City Dock at 6:00, and he can’t wait to talk to the kids and hear their Christmas lists. For more information on this Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration, please call the Chamber at 850-653-9419. We hope to see you there!
