It’s going to get HOT on March 1 in St. George Island, Florida and I’m not talking about the weather. I’m talking about the 26th Annual Charity Auction and Chili Cook-Off. Not only are you guaranteed a good time, you will be contributing to one of St. George Island’s most valuable resources, The St. George Island Volunteer Fire Department. The event actually starts off a day early on February, 28th at St. James Golf Course with a Best Ball Golf Tournament. At 8:00 AM on Saturday, March 1, the events really get started in front of the Blue Parrot with The Red Pepper 5K Run. Not only will you be running and competing for your health and a worthwhile cause, you also have the opportunity to receive an award in a number of categories.

Do you make a great Crock-Pot Chili? Do your friends and family rave about that spicy, meaty, delicacy that comes out of your Crock-Pot? If so, the Crock-Pot Chili Contest is for YOU! Anything goes with this event that could make you famous. Ok, maybe it won’t bring you national fame, but it might give you some bragging rights. Not a cook, no problem…for $3.00 a bowl, you can taste the homemade chili of your favorite St. George Island resident or visitor. If you are a true Chili chef extraordinaire, the International Chili Society (ICS) Contest is what you are after. This event is for the best of the best and is sure to provide you with some excitement as ICS members and non-members compete to see whose chili will knock the judges out of their chairs.

Whether you live on the Island, one of the surrounding cities or are staying in one of the luxurious vacation properties on the island, you do not want to miss this HOT event. Don’t forget, not only are you going to experience a day of fun, you will also be supporting the St. George Island Volunteer Fire Department.
